MY ALBUM IS READY, WILL DROP ON MY BIRTHDAY (10-5-2018) - OLA LAKESIDE

 

Ola lakeside is a big name, I can call him eja-nla. Its is not easy for an artiste to make it big in this part of the world. It is even a different story if you come from Island or Ikeja, the middle class of the society, but its a real hard 'shit' if you come from a place like Ijesha in Surulere. That place is the real ghetto. If you don't know  Elegushi spender, you need to go back to primary school, Ola lakeside has also done other hit songs and has featured some big names in the Nigerian music scene including 9ice, Orishe Femi and Reminisce, just to name a few. Ola lakeside is the real MVP in Surulere, a product we are all proud of, just like Daddy Yo Wizkid.

Ola lakeside lets us into his world in this interview with QuadoowearTvBlog, he tells us his new projects and how he is planning heavily to drop his album on his birthday, 10-5-2018.

CAN WE MEET YOU?

Yea, I am Olamilekan Ogunlowo popularly known as Olalakeside aka Elegushi spender Mr. Shanawole.

HOW DID YOU GET YOUR ARTISTE NAME?

Once again I said my name is Olamilekan, my mom used to call me Ola at home. My friends call me Lakeside.  The combination of the both side, I join it together and I got Olalakeside.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND AND CHILDHOOD

I am from Ekiti State. I was born and brought up here in Ijeshatedo,  Surulere, Lagos. I am from a family of 7 including my  parents, I am the third born.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I attended Ijeshatedo Primary School, and Ijeshatedo Grammar School  for my secondary education. I graduated from Street University.

HOW DID YOU START DOING MUSIC?

Have been doing music long ago in the church, When I was young but I came to limelight in 2012.

WHY CHOOSE MUSIC?

 I chose music because I love music. I was born with music and I believe I can do it well, I enjoy it.

WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO APART FROM MUSIC?

I can play football very well.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BEST AND WORSE PERFORMANCES

A lot of great performances but if I have to mention one or two, I will say Felabration, last two years (2015), I won best performance that day. Also at Extreme Award in Cotonou, I delivered a wonderful performance and the fans loved it. 
My worse performance was when I performed in Shagamu this year (2017), it was a show they had for the new king in Shagamu.  I had already made arrangements with the deejay before going on stage but on getting there the deejay's laptop went off. I just did a freestyle and I got down from the stage.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BREAKTHROUGH PERFORMANCE

My breakthrough performance was at naijaloaded.com  end of the year party in Elegushi, 2013.

WHAT LESSON HAVE YOU LEARNED THROUGH YOUR MUSIC HUSTLE?

Through my music hustle, I have learned how to relate with people with respect and loyalty. That is what have kept me going and I always apply it to every part of my life. 
Music has also taught me how to set some goals and achieve it.

WHO IS YOUR MENTOR IN THE NIGERIAN MUSIC SCENE?

Every body that's doing good in Nigeria music industry, because I listen to all songs.

WHO IS YOUR MENTOR IN THE FOREIGN SCENE?

R Kelly and Chris Brown.

HOW DID YOU CONVINCE YOUR PARENTS ABOUT DOING MUSIC?

My mum supported me, she was cool with me doing music, she knew I loved music very well but she always told me that I should take my studies seriously also. My dad didn't support me of doing music in d first place but later he became my best fan.

HOW DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION?

Na God o. Things I see around me, and I do research all the time.

WHICH IS YOUR BIGGEST SONG SO FAR?

Elegushi spender.

I am dropping an album on my birthday 10-05-2018, it has some nice songs on it. Watch out.

My advice to young artistes out there is that they should put GOD first. No be by juju, stay focus, believe in yourself.
