I WILL BE HAPPY TO BE CALLED UP TO THE NIGERIAN NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM - OREOLUWA (CUSTOMS BASKETBALL)

1: Can we meet you ?

I am Obomanu Tamunomim Oreoluwa , I play for Nigeria Customs Basketball as their power forward and centre.,

2: Tell us about your background ?

Am from Rivers State and I was born in Lagos , the only son of  my mother and the first child of my father , I have spent most of my life in Lagos till date , all the school education I had was in Lagos state

3: How did you start basketball ?

My basketball started when I was in secondary school , in Obele  Community High School (OCHS) , at Randle Avenue Surulere , Lagos, participated in Milo basketball championship, after my secondary school I decided to join the Sea Rovers basketball  Academy under coach Adewunmi Aderemi , the new appointed  assistant coach to the  national male basketball team and the head coach of Kwara Falcons Basketball Team in Nigeria, where I was thought all the right skill fundamentally , and after some years with Sea Rovers Basketball Academy, someone saw special potential in me and I was nurtured personally by Seun Akinwale the owner and founder of Gripps-breed Basketball academy in Lagos, Surulere , in which I am asking God to bless him and also to help to show that I appreciate him so much because if not for him, God knows.

4:  Why basketball ?

I didn't just branch into basketball and it was because I believe that I can do it and I love the game . People call me Hakeem Olajunwon just because am very tall I also had a dream one night that i was playing basketball so I had to follow my dream and God so good, am grateful to God for his grace and mercy.

5: What is the different between Nigeria basketball and USA basketball?

Hahahahahaa!    it just like you're asking the different between dead and sleeping , Americans are far better than us economically, not to talk our basketball with poor facilities and poor administrative staffs, not to talk of how it has been turned to the poorest unknown sport in Nigeria.  American basketball is 98% while our basketball in Nigeria 20% the difference is much.

6: How did you convince you parent that you want to play basketball ?

It was not an easy thing you know all parents want good for the children, at the long run they just have to accept and motivate  me and also pray.

7: Who do you look up to in basketball?

Hakeem Olajunwon, Kelvin Durant and Rodman the centre for Chicago Bulls when Michael Jordan was playing the for Bulls, I mentioned them because they all have their responsibility on the basketball court.

8: Your best food ?

I love EBA with egusi Ijebu

9: Your best match ?

It was when I played against Lagos Islanders Basketball Team in  Land mark event centre, it was against the experienced players like Tunji Awojobi from United States of America, Seun Akinwale , Ben & Jossy also from the United State of America and one of the best coach in Nigeria called Coach Letua.

10: Your worst match ?

Was when we won and coach still had to tell me he's not impressed with the way I played, and that was when I was playing for Kwara Falcons in Ilorin.

11: What have you learned about life through basketball ?

Through basketball I realized that ,we all have to put up our best with the right fundamental skill in order to achieve success in life and also basketball teaches me that , everybody has different ways to take which is different destiny , we all going to end in good destination, like in basketball we have V curt , U curt, but our mission is to make the basketball which I called good destination.

12: Tell us about your new club ?

Am now with the Nigeria Custom Basketball Team , as a Power  Forward and Centre Player, which the head coach is Scott Nnanji and assisted by Muhammed Jagu and captained by Zana.

13: Who is you favourite player in the Nigerian basketball scene?

My favorite player in Nigeria is Benjamin, he's a Royal Hoopers player , I choose him because he plays calm and he's a consistent shooter that am always confident if am playing with him in the same team.
